Building Strong Foundations
Our school is structured in progressive divisions, giving dancers of every age the opportunity to grow with confidence, artistry, and proper technique. From their first plié to advanced training, each level builds thoughtfully toward the next.
The Introductory Series is designed to spark a love of movement while preparing young bodies and imaginations for future dance training. Each class blends freedom and structure in an age-appropriate way, encouraging creativity, confidence, and joy from the very beginning.
Enrollment is ongoing and prorated — join anytime during the year!
Class Offerings
Creative Dance - Ages 3.5–5 (45 minutes)
Young dancers explore movement through stretching, rhythm, energy, and pathways — all in an atmosphere of play. Each class ends with “free dance,” giving children space to use their imagination and express themselves. Creative Dance is co-taught by one of our experienced faculty members alongside an advanced COYB dancer trained in Once Upon a Ballet methods. Many activities are inspired by the teaching philosophy of Anne Green Gilbert so that every child grows not only as a dancer, but as a confident, creative individual.
No costume fees.
Dance FUNdamentals - Ages 5–6.5 (45 minutes)
This class builds on Creative Dance with more complex movement exploration, while still keeping play and imagination at the center. Elementary barre work is introduced, along with continued development of rhythm, energy, and spatial awareness. Each class ends with “free dance,” giving dancers a chance to practice creativity alongside growing technical skills. FUNdamentals is co-taught by faculty and a trained advanced COYB dancer, drawing from the work of Anne Green Gilbert so that every child grows not only as a dancer, but as a confident, creative individual.
No costume fees.
Beginning Technique - Ages 6.5–8 (45 minutes)
Beginning Technique is the foundation of COYB’s school program. Dancers are introduced to elementary center and barre work in both ballet and modern styles, while continuing to develop rhythm, energy, and spatial awareness in a fun, supportive environment. This class builds a technically sound and safe foundation for movement and creativity, preparing students for the next step in their training — Ballet I and Modern I.
